Good Tweet Advice

Emma Coats ‏ @ lawnrocket 21 Apr If you didn't learn to work smart & hard at school, you're going to have to learn afterwards. If you already know, you're unstoppable! Emma Coats ‏ @ lawnrocket 21 Apr Nobody's going to look at your grades - they look at your portfolio. You've got to develop your own standard & hold yourself to it Like @ housedemsgirl says- just going to art school isn't enough. Beyond meeting people, you've gotta push yourself past what the school asks @ lawnrocket it's also important to note that just going to an art sch isn't enough. You have to get involved/engaged to build relationships. And talking about networking: Don't be a jerk, value your time & others', remember to network at YOUR level too, not just upwards. Also don't be a sleazeball please. Networking is just a fancy word for making professional friends. Chris Cookson ‏ @ coldmilk 21 Apr

Good career guide stuff here .

Be Good, Deliver on Time and Be Nice

Not really Story but sage advice for your co-op placement. From Stephen King through Neil Gaiman" " You get work however you get work, but keep people keep working in a freelance world (and more and more of today’s world is freelance) , because their work is good, because they are easy to get along with and because they deliver the work on time. And you don’t even need all three! Two out of three is fine. People will tolerate how unpleasant you are if your work is good and you deliver it on time. People will forgive the lateness of your work if it is good and they like you. And you don’t have to be as good as everyone else if you’re on time and it’s always a pleasure to hear from you." Doing Ronin 2013

Freelance Business Talk from James Caswell

Ronin Defined

" Ronin or "wave men" were masterless warriors in 18th century Japan, whose success depended solely on their wit and skill. Ronin careers strategies are based on versatility, independence, initiative and savvy. Rather than focusing on a narrow career path, Ronin build a wide-range of skills, multiplying the career options they can chose from.
